Job Description:

As a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), you will serve as a strategic advisor, operational partner, and employee champion for assigned business units. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will support leaders and employees across a wide range of HR functions including employee relations, workforce planning, benefits, leave administration, HR compliance, and organizational development.

You will be assigned specific Directors and departments, serving as their primary HR point of contact. In this role, you will guide leaders and employees through HR programs and processes such as internal movements, compensation reviews, leave management, and policy interpretation. The HRBP plays a critical role in aligning people strategies with business objectives to support Ascent’s continued growth and operational excellence.

With the launch of our 777 program and expansion into two new hangars, Ascent plans to hire more than 250 employees in 2025. Your partnership and expertise will be essential in supporting this growth and advancing our mission to become the most trusted aerospace solutions provider in North America.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner with department leaders to provide day-to-day support in employee relations, policy interpretation, organizational changes, and talent planning.
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for assigned departments, supporting employee engagement, performance coaching, corrective action, and dispute resolution.
  • Oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, benefits, FMLA, ADA, personal leaves, Workers’ Compensation, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Participate in operational meetings, team stand-ups, and job-shadowing activities to gain business context and develop proactive HR strategies.
  • Lead or support workforce planning initiatives, including managing burndown charts and collaborating with Finance on headcount tracking.
  • Manage and audit HR compliance processes including OSHA, DOT MIS reporting, ACA, Safe Harbor, EEO-1, and 1095 filings.
  • Serve as Designated Employer Representative (DER) for the FAA-regulated drug and alcohol testing program (49 CFR Part 40).
  • Schedule and track random drug screens, vision tests, and hearing tests per policy or regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Payroll and Finance to review payroll and bonus payouts.
  • Prepare and reconcile benefits invoices using internal Excel-based processes.
  • Oversee benefits premium collection for employees on unpaid leave, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
  • Solicit quotes and manage ordering, inventory, and distribution of uniforms and branded merchandise.
  • Support 401(k) Safe Harbor compliance, including annual contribution analysis and reporting.
  • Support immigration processes including TN visa packets and permanent residency cases in partnership with legal counsel.
  • Oversee HR intranet administration and coordinate internal communications such as newsletters and announcements.
  • Plan and execute employee appreciation events, recognition programs, and engagement initiatives.
  • Develop tools and resources to support front-line leaders in performance management, communication, recognition, and onboarding.
  • Conduct regular audits of HRIS records and onboarding documentation to ensure compliance and data integrity.
  • Support annual Open Enrollment planning and execution in collaboration with the company’s broker and HR Director.
  • Provide backup support for other HR team functions and complete special projects as assigned.
Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Basic understanding of professional email etiquette.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations, leave administration, and compliance.
  • Experience coaching leaders and supporting employees across multiple departments.
  • Experience managing or auditing HR processes related to onboarding, benefits, FMLA/ADA, Workers’ Compensation, or internal transfers.
  • Prior experience working with HRIS systems and sensitive employee data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Experience in aviation, aerospace, or MRO environments.
  • Prior DER experience or experience managing regulated drug testing programs.
  • Knowledge of immigration processes (TN visas, permanent residency).
  • Experience developing leadership tools or training content.
  • Experience planning company events or engagement initiatives.
  • Experience with ACA, OSHA, EEO-1, or 401(k) Safe Harbor reporting.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification.
  • Comfortable speaking to groups of up to 40 people.
