Job Summary

The core purpose of the Cargo Supervisor is to lead a team of Cargo Agents to safely, efficiently, and reliably exceed the service delivery expectations of Swissport’s airline clients and their customers on a daily basis.

Each Cargo Supervisor is responsible for achieving key operational objectives for their assigned shift and clients, while working collaboratively with peers and leaders to deliver overall cargo performance. Cargo Supervisors are role models and cultural ambassadors, promoting a strong safety culture and leading by example.

Your activities

  • Supervise daily cargo warehouse operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling of import and export freight
  • Support the achievement of on-time performance and service delivery targets by proactively identifying and resolving operational issues
  • Coordinate cargo build-up and breakdown activities in line with airline and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct ULD checks, manage damaged ULDs, and ensure timely control and returns
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, security, and regulatory standards including Dangerous Goods, Biosecurity, and aviation requirements
  • Promote a strong safety culture through active monitoring, coaching, and adherence to OH&S procedures
  • Monitor team performance, provide coaching and training, and assist with performance management where required
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, equipment serviceability, and warehouse presentation
  • Ensure accurate documentation and data entry within Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Support manpower planning and resource allocation to optimise operational efficiency
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, airline clients, and airport stakeholders to meet service expectations
  • Report and investigate hazards, incidents, and near misses via the company reporting system
  • Uphold Swissport’s values, policies, and operational standards at all times

Your profile

  • Experience in air cargo operations, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory capability
  • Sound knowledge of cargo handling processes including import/export and Dangerous Goods
  • Current forklift licence (essential)
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Strong understanding of aviation safety, security, and regulatory requirements
  • Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound operational decisions
  • High level of organisation, time management, and attention to detail
  • IATA Dangerous Goods certification (desirable)
  • Valid ASIC card or ability to obtain prior to commencement
  • Flexibility to work across a rotating roster
