The Role:
Are you a hands-on Press Setter or Machine Operator who enjoys working with complex, mechanical equipment rather than fully automated systems?
We’re looking for an experienced setter or operator to join a highly skilled manufacturing team producing precision heat exchange components used in aerospace airflow testing systems.
This is not a “press button and walk away” role – you’ll be working with a unique, legacy mechanical press system that requires real skill, judgement, and problem-solving ability.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the role:
You’ll be operating and setting the legacy Kinteck mechanical press system, which uses a 90-tooth indexing mechanism requiring manual adjustment for each production programme.
Your work will include:
Setting and adjusting press tooling and machine parameters
Changing gear/tooth positions on top and bottom systems per job
Monitoring air and oil flow systems (“air thin / oil thin” controls)
Resetting machine indexing systems when airflow or cycle conditions change
Running coil-based production processes
Ensuring consistent, high-quality output
This is a role for someone who understands machines mechanically – not just digitally.
Qualifications
Skills required:
Proven experience as a Press Setter / Press Operator
Strong mechanical understanding of press systems
Ability to use measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges)
Experience in automotive, aerospace, or precision engineering
NVQ in Press Setting OR equivalent hands-on experience
